Although it is mandatory for a city to follow a development and land use plan, often, growth and development is wayward and not aligned to the ever-changing needs of the population. To integrate planning and transportation at the national, regional, strategic and local level, as a first step, it is important to assess the mobility needs of a city. This involves a detailed evaluation of the mobility pattern in a city and the performance of its existing transit system.

Most State Governments and agencies cannot independently carry out such an extensive exercise. With vast experience and knowledge of this domain, UMTC aids the Government and local bodies and focuses on making transit plans which are sustainable, realistic, cost effective and viable.
