Recognizing the need to address urban transportation
issues and improve the quality and effectiveness of urban
transit in India, UMTC makes a conscious effort to encourage
the use of best practices in the Indian context. We provide
ideas and solutions to alleviate problems associated with
traffic congestion and develop tool kits for implementing
the same effectively.
UMTC also specializes in training local bodies and individuals
and imparts relevant skills and knowledge to enable them
to address the public transit needs of the city in a better
manner. A set of professional trainers, well versed with
technical and practical know-how, conduct on-site sessions
as well as indoor discussions and outdoor visits to professionals
in this arena with a view to improve their performance
and widen their horizon.
In an effort to share and exchange views on how to address
the challenges our country faces in implementing sustainable
transit systems, UMTC provides assistance to individuals
and institutions in the government, public, social or
private sector by sponsoring participation in situational
analysis, planning, monitoring and evaluation of transport
projects. Our efforts in organizing on site visits of
stakeholders to national and international locations have
further facilitated convergence of ideas and interests.
